Even in the highly competitive world of luxury compact SUVs, the Lincoln Corsair stands out. With its especially attractive styling and well-appointed interior, it’s no wonder that it attracts so much attention. But how does it stack up to the competition when you get into the details? Joe Rizza Lincoln has put together this helpful guide to how the competition stands up to the Lincoln Corsair.

Up first against the Corsair is the XT5, from Lincoln’s longtime rival Cadillac. Right from the start, we can see that the Corsair comes with a noticeable price advantage. This becomes even more pronounced when you see that the extra money you spend on the Cadillac doesn’t really get you much. It certainly doesn’t get you more power, even though both vehicles come with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the one in the Corsair produces more horsepower and torque. On top of that, the Corsair also gets better fuel economy. This is true of the base model, but for those who want even better fuel economy, there is a plug-in hybrid version of the Corsair, while there is no electrified drivetrain of any kind for the XT5. The Corsair gives you better legroom as well as a towing capacity that’s double that of the XT5. You get more speakers in the Corsair, and controlling them is a lot easier too, thanks to a much, much bigger infotainment touchscreen. Safety features like front seat lumbar support and a rear cross-traffic assist are standard on the Corsair, while Cadillac makes you move up to a higher trim before they’re even available as options. That’s even more money on top of the several thousand extra you would already have to pay for the Cadillac.

For our second comparison, we’re putting the Audi Q5 up against the Corsair. Since this is one of the few competitors offering a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, those are the versions of these vehicles we’re looking at. The first thing you’ll notice is the price. While the plug-in drivetrain is available on any trim of the Q5, it’s such an expensive option that a Q5 Premium (the base trim) with this drivetrain is noticeably more expensive than the top Grand Touring trim plug-in Corsair. That price gap is increased by the fact that the Corsair also delivers superior fuel economy. The Corsair hits that all-important sweet spot in the world of compact SUVs, it offers more leg room, more cargo room, and still has better maneuverability. Inside, you’ll find that active noise cancellation gives you a nice quiet space, filled with natural light from the standard panoramic sunroof. You will find that the Corsair’s infotainment screen is a lot bigger and easier to see and use. Lastly, Audi offers a pretty competitive roadside assistance plan to go with the Q5, but the plan offered for the Corsair is literally unbeatable.

For our last comparison, we’re looking at the compact version of the Range Rover, the Evoque. This one does come with standard AWD, but even when compared to the AWD-equipped Corsair, it’s still much more expensive. Once again, you aren’t getting any more power with that money, and neither are you getting better fuel economy. The Corsair once again offers more front legroom, and we’ve included the figures for the rear too, since the Evoqe has such an unusually cramped back seat. You get more cargo space in the back of the Corsair, quite a bit more. But in spite of the Evoque’s cramped interior, it still can’t match the Corsair’s turning diameter. The Corsair once again shows off a bigger infotainment touchscreen, which gives it some real bragging rights in this segment. And while the Evoque’s sole drivetrain option is a hybrid, it’s a mild hybrid system that isn’t even capable of out-performing the non-hybrid version of the Corsair.
Winner - Lincoln Corsair
You have a ton of options when it comes to luxury compact SUVs. Yet none of them manage to offer quite what you get with a Lincoln Corsair. Thanks to class-leading power, fuel economy, and technology, the Corsair has something for everyone. We think you’ll like it too, stop by Joe Rizza Lincoln to experience it in person.
